What We Offer

Ballet Program

We offer a complete Ballet Program from beginning ballet to the pre-professional level. We have built our ballet curriculum from decades of experience and the American Ballet Theater standards of accreditation.* We believe in developmentally appropriate ballet curriculum that builds a strong, well-aligned, focused dancer. The levels are as follows:

One class a week

Ballet 1: Ages 5-6

This 45 minute class has an emphasis on locomotor movement, introduction ballet positions, concepts, technique

Ballet 2: Ages 7-8

This 45 minute class has an emphasis on increasing ballet vocabulary, concepts and technique

Ballet 3: Ages 8-9

This 60 minute class has an emphasis on strengthening existing technique and introduction to intermediate level concepts

 

Two classes a week

Ballet 4: Ages 9-10

This 60 minute class has an emphasis on more advanced ballet concepts such as turning, leaping, strength for next levels

Ballet 4A/B: Intermediate Ballet, pre-pointe level

This 60 minute class has an emphasis on intermediate ballet concepts: turning and leaping, small jumps, more complicated exercises and choreography. This is our pre-pointe and pointe level. Dancers must be at least 12 years old and exhibit a strong body and mind knowledge and strength of Ballet 4A/B concepts to be asked to be on pointe shoes. 

 

Three-five classes a week

Ballet 5: Advanced Ballet and Pre-Professional Level

This 75-90 minute class emphasizes dancing advanced ballet concepts, pointe class

Jazz/Modern Emphasis

 

We offer a full jazz and modern dance track for every age and stage. Our beginning dancers combine the two classes and concepts into one dance class. As age and complexity grow, we separate jazz and modern to better serve our dancers and to give them the specific techniques and focus of each style. Our jazz dancing is rooted in American jazz music, rhythm, and groove, as well as introducing broadway style jazz dancing at the level 4 stage. Our modern curriculum is full of floor work, lifts, and momentum. Both styles include emphasis on improvisation and originality in composition as well as introducing and mastering basic tumbling for dance such as cartwheels, handstands, back bends, and rolls. 

One class a week:

Jazz/Modern 1: Ages 5-6

This 45 minute class has an emphasis on locomotor movement, introduction to choreography, basic jazz steps, and

classroom etiquette. Beginning to improvise and being comfortable dancing as a solo.

Jazz/Modern 2: Ages 6-7

This 45 minute class has an emphasis on more complicated jazz steps such as pas de bourees, cross ball change, creativity, composition 

Jazz/Modern 3: Ages 7-8

This 45 minute class has an emphasis on beginning to turn, leap, more complicated choreography, introduction to small technical movements such as tendues, passers, etc. 

Jazz/Modern 4: Ages 8-9

This 60 minute class has an emphasis on more advanced jazz/modern concepts, improvisation, creativity. This is the level to begin to grasp pirouettes, more advanced leaps and more advanced choreography

Jazz 4/4A: Ages 10-12

This 60 minute class has an emphasis on strength and clarity in existing jazz technique, introducing the ideas of more advanced jazz turns and leaps, continuing the concepts of creativity and composition, increase emphasis on flexibility and strength

Jazz 4B: Ages 12-14

This 60 minute class has an emphasis on mastering pirouettes, leaps, clear and strong batmas, introducing jazz technique is the style of Luigi, Danny Burcheschki, and Giordano, such as hinges, arm placements, layouts, etc.

Jazz 5: Ages 14-18

This 60 minute class has an emphasis on more advanced jazz technique in preparation for jazz in college and in future concert dance in dance companies

Beginning Hip Hop: Ages 6-9

This 30 minute class has an emphasis on beginning hip hop concepts as well as strength in tumbling for hip hop while working on beginning choreography incorporating these two things. 

Intermediate Hip Hop: Ages 10-12

This 45 minute class has an emphasis on intermediate hip hop concepts such as footwork, arm technique, hip hop tricks as well as strength in tumbling for hip hop, intermediate choreography incorporating all of these things. 

Advanced Hip Hop: Ages 13-18 

This 60 minute class has an emphasis on advanced hip hop concepts such as popping, locking, learning basic hip hop steps as well as strength in tumbling for hip hop, advanced choreography incorporating all of these things. 

Modern 4/4A: Ages 10-12

Class coming next year!

Modern 4B: Ages 12-14

This 60 minute class has an emphasis on beginning to dance in and out of the floor with clarity, introduction to partner work, more advanced choreography and thematic composition  

Modern 5: Ages 14-18

This 60 minute class has an emphasis on advanced floor work, partnering, use of momentum and improvisation in dance, tumbling in choreography and complicated choreography 

Tap Emphasis

We offer tap classes as an extension of our rhythm based curriculum in jazz and modern. We believe that rhythm is essential to a well rounded dancer and tap teaches this in a way like none other. Our tap classes begin at age 7 which is a developmentally appropriate age for the responsibility of tap shoes and sounds.

One class a week:

Tap 1: Ages 7-9

This 30 minute class has an emphasis on beginning tap steps and memorizing choreography, importance of body rhythm and improvisation in the tap vernacular  

Tap 2: Ages 8-12

This 45 minute class has an emphasis on more complicated rhythm and tap steps, more complicated choreography, rhythms and improvisation in a group

Tap 3: Ages 12-18

This 45 minute class has an emphasis on most advanced tap steps, syncopated and difficult time steps, patterns and rhythms

Creative Movement

We offer creative classes for our youngest dancers. These classes are rooted in play, story and exploration. They are developmentally appropriate and teach young dancers body knowledge and how to properly act in a classroom. Our curriculum was developed over decades of experience as well as through the Play Dance curriculum. 

One class a week:

Creative Movement 1: Ages 3-4

This 30 minute class introduces the young dancer to the classroom and dance concepts, rooted in play, story and exploration, this class is truly creative! Emphasis on body knowledge and group listening skills in a dance classroom 

Creative Movement 2: Ages 4-5

This 45 minute class continues the dance concepts started in creative movement 1 but adds more codified dance steps, movement concepts and yet is still rooted in play, story and exploration. This class is truly creative! Continued emphasis on body knowledge and group listening skills in a dance classroom
